When our customers
get pricing for other contractors, we rarely come in as the low bidder. However, we are still often chosen as the contractor. Here are some of the reasons:
Communication and Coordination
We can handle all the details of the project from plumbing, tiling, flooring, plastering and painting. We are a licensed general contractor in Massachusetts (CS 98967) so we provide all the services necessary to completely remodel your kitchen, bathroom or home.
We utilize a cloud-based project management software package. This is our primary communication tool between you, us and everyone working on your project. You will be able to view our up-to-date schedule, chose all the items that you need to complete your project, send us messages and look at daily photos of your remodel. There is even a dedicated mobile app that you can download to your phone or tablet. This software has revolutionized how we communicate with you and implement your dreams.
Before we start the actual onsite work of a project, we have all the materials needed and a firm, short timeline for completion. Customers who utilize our services are very surprised at how efficiently the project runs. This is especially important when there are subcontractors involved. We show up when we say we are going to show up, do what we say we are going to do and finish the project as committed.
License and Insurance
We are a licensed general contractor and home improvement contractor in Massachusetts (CS 98967). This means we have the knowledge and resources to perform the work correctly and legally.
We carry $2,000,000 worth of liability insurance. This level of insurance protects you and your property in the case of an accident. For example, if you hire an uninsured contractor who drives a screw through a gas pipe that results in damage, injury or even death, you as the homeowner are liable. Please make sure to get a certificate of insurance from any contractor bidding on work in your home.
Everyone who works on your home when we are running a project is covered by worker’s compensation. This means that if there is an injury on your property, you can be assured that you will not be held responsible.
Probably one of the biggest differences between us and other contractors are our employees. We only hire responsible top-notch craftsman. They show up on-time, work efficiently, and have the tools and talent to deal with any unexpected problems. They respect you and your property. We only use direct employees for all the demo, tile, flooring and carpentry work.
Our employees all speak English as a first language and are American citizens. This is extremely important since communication during the project makes a huge difference in the final result.
Our master carpenters are all in their 40’s and 50’s with years of experience. They are articulate, respectful and committed to a quality job. Our younger helpers are following in the footsteps of their mentors.
We insist on a smoke-free jobsite and drug test our employees as necessary.
Everyone on our payroll is paid a living wage. A good wage allows us to hire loyal, professional and highly qualified employees.
“There is no one on our project sites that I would not trust with my billfold or to babysit my children.” Rich Carl – Owner
We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our jobsite. Remodeling can be messy business if the correct steps aren’t taken. By isolating the project area, the rest of the house can be protected from dust and debris. This is especially important when the project home is occupied during the remodeling.
In almost all cases, we perform any cutting of materials outside. It takes more time but you don’t have your property filled with sawdust. When we can’t cut outside, we utilize the best dust containment system available to minimize airborne particles.
We clean and neaten up at the end of every day. This doesn’t mean just sweeping the big chunks into a pile of debris with a broom! We use vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters to protect our employees and you. We neatly organize our tools and work surfaces and pick up any trash. Having tools and trash strewn around your house is unsafe and unsightly.
It is often said that a carpenter is only as good as his tools allow him to be. At iKitchens, we provide our craftsman with the best tools available on the market. We use cutting tools and dust collectors from Festool, levels from Stabila, drills from Milwaukee and blades from Freud. These are not brands well known to homeowners/DIYs but are the finest products available.
We constantly browse trade journals, research the Internet and attend conferences to keep up on the latest advances in tools and materials. For example, we use different types of floor protection depending on the finish and material of your flooring.
