In 2006, the husband and wife team of Lou Ann Burgess and Rich Carl started iKitchens Etc. Both had been in the corporate world for over 20 years and had moved to Falmouth on Cape Cod in 2002 with their young children. Rich traveled a lot with his job and missed being able to watch his kid’s concerts or teach them how to play baseball. They made a decision to start their own business. For the first five years, the company specialized in IKEA kitchen installations. Soon customers started to ask about running the entire kitchen project (demo, plumbing, electric, plaster, etc.). They built a team of reliable employees and subcontractors to provide these services. Because of their corporate background in customer service and quality control, they are committed to communication, customer satisfaction, cleanliness and delivering projects on time and budget. In 2016, they opened a brick-and-mortar kitchen and bath design center in East Falmouth. This location allows a “one-stop shop” for kitchen and bath remodels. From start to finish, iKitchens does everything including design, specify products, supply materials and construction.
While the majority of their business comes from the villages of Falmouth, Mashpee and Bourne, they travel throughout the Upper and Mid Cape along with the South Shore of Massachusetts, as well as Martha’s Vineyard.

Lou Ann Burgess • Kitchen Designer / Project Specifications
Originally from North Carolina, Lou Ann holds degrees in chemistry and physics from Guilford College. She has lived in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Tokyo, and Massachusetts while working for large and small corporations. During her 20 years in the corporate world, she worked on the design, production and implementation of scientific instruments. Her passion for cooking naturally led to a passion for kitchens. She believes the kitchen is the heart of home and should be celebrated as such. The kitchen needs to function for everyone in the home and have the flexibility to handle simple cooking to family meals to elaborate entertaining. Lou Ann is committed to helping homeowners create a space that meets their needs. This has extended beyond the kitchen, to include bathrooms, basements, offices, storage space, etc

Rich Carl • Production Manager
A Massachusetts native, Rich spent 20 years in the corporate world in marketing and sales after getting a Ph.D. in chemistry from Dartmouth College. While his day job was sales of scientific instruments, evenings and weekends were filled with home improvement projects. Rich has years of hands-on experience, but is always staying current with new ways to tackle a project. A true jack of all trades, he is as comfortable designing a web site as installing a kitchen. Rich is committed to providing an outstanding level of communication with our clients. The addition of cloud-based project management software has taken this goal to the next level. Rich is a licensed CSL (Contractor Supervisor License) and HIC (Home Improvement Contractor) Rich and Lou Ann are married and have two children, one cat, one dog and one boat named “Take Two.”
Tracy Bouton • Business Manager / Project Coordinator
After spending a little over 20 years in Atlanta, Tracy returned to her roots in New England. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned her MBA at Mercer University while in Atlanta. Tracy joined our team in 2010 bringing over 25 years of experience working with small businesses as a consultant, office manager, and bookkeeper. This experience combined with her passion for remodeling her own homes makes her a great asset to our team. She enjoys spending time with her wife and children on the bike path, at the beach and traveling.
Michelle Costello • Showroom Coordinator
Originally from upstate New York, Michelle moved to Boston after graduating with a degree in Accounting from SUNY (State University of New York) at Oswego. She worked in the corporate world as a financial consultant and manger until moving to Falmouth in 1995 to raise her family. Michelle joined our team in 2017 bringing her organization skills to managing our showroom and materials for projects. She enjoys gardening, kayaking and spending time in Maine with her husband and two sons.
Dan Tavares, Sr. • Master Tiler
Dan is a jack-of-all-trades in addition to being a master tile setter. When it comes to a simple tile backsplash or an intricate glass-inlay shower surround, Dan is The Man. In addition, he has over two decades of experience in all aspects of flooring (tile, hardwood, vinyl, Marmoleum). He also is an excellent carpenter. He lives in Falmouth with his wife, three children, four dogs, and two miniature horses. He is the only carpenter on our job site with pink tools!
Dan Tavares, Jr. • Carpenter
Danny joined our team in 2012 after years of working with his father. He has excellent carpentry skills along with the ability to install all types of flooring and tile. We are proud to have a young carpenter on our team who is committed to the trades.
iKitchens Etc is a team of professional, knowledgeable and creative individuals who truly love the work they do & love working with each other & their clients (who soon end up feeling like “old” friends!) Having an old home with low ceilings I thought my kitchen remodel would become one big headache. Exact opposite. It went incredibly smooth & on schedule. The work area was cleaned up every day, the crew showed up on schedule & were always willing to answer any questions we had. This team gets the gold!!! – Donna M.
